1. Q. What causes the message "Money could not complete the call due
to trouble communicating with the modem port. Please try again"?

   A. If you have an internal modem and you receive this error
message, Windows is unable to communicate with your modem. Check
the modem settings in the Windows Control Panel to verify that
      the modem is installed correctly.

If you have an external modem and receive this error message,
check all cable connections and make sure the modem's power is
on. If everything appears to be in working order, check the
modem settings in the Windows Control Panel.

This problem can also occur if you have other communications
software running in the background such as fax software
configured to receive incoming faxes on the same COM port. You
must close the other communications software before you can use
the Microsoft Money Online Banking services.

2. Q. How do I disable call waiting in Money 3.0?

   A. The exact code used to disable call waiting varies among phone
companies. Ask your phone company for the code that disables
call waiting in your area, and then perform the following two
      steps:

      1. On the Tools menu, click Options and then Modem.

      2. In the Online Services Number box, enter the code to disable
call waiting, followed by a comma. For example, if the code
is 1170, enter "1170," (without the quotation marks) at the
beginning of your online services phone number.

3. Q. In Money 3.0, why do I get the error message: "A Communications
      Error occurred"?

   A. The error message appears on your screen if there is a problem
connecting, sending, or receiving information from Online
Services. We recommend you contact Online Services before
      troubleshooting Microsoft Money.

If contacting Online Services does not solve your problem,
      perform the following four steps:

      1. On the Tools menu, click Options and then Modem. Check your
modem settings. Make sure the correct baud rate is set. Try
slowing the modem down to 2400 baud.

      2. Make sure all other programs, especially screen savers,
         are not running in Windows.

      3. Check the COMM.DRV= line in the [BOOT] section of the
Windows SYSTEM.INI file. The line should read
         COMM.DRV=COMM.DRV.

      4. If possible, try a different phone line. Also, make sure you
have a direct connection from the computer to the phone jack
in the wall. Remove any other devices on the phone line, like
an answering machine, a cordless phone, a fax, or a splitter.

4. Q. Why do I receive a general protection fault error message when
I use Online banking in Money 3.0?

   A. This general protection (GP) fault occurs when Money matches a
downloaded transaction with one already in your account book.

This match may be caused by one of the following three
      situations:

      1. The transaction being matched uses a split category with an
         unassigned amount.

      2. The downloaded transaction does not match any unreconciled
transaction, but the last transaction for that payee was a
         transfer transaction.

      3. The GP fault also may occur in the unlikely event that there
are more accounts than categories in your data file.

If you get a GP fault while matching a split transaction,
make sure the split transaction includes a category for
every line in the split with a dollar amount, or remove
the split by assigning one category to the entire
         transaction.

5. Q. In Money 3.0, why do I get the message that my modem is not
      responding?

   A. This could occur if your modem is improperly configured for
use in Money, or if it is an external modem and is not
turned on. Perform the following three steps:

      1. Verify that the modem is turned on and check the Online
Services and Modem settings using the following two steps:

         a. On the Tools menu, click Options and then Modem.

         b. Make sure the COM Port, Baud Rate, Dial Tone, and
Phone Number settings are entered correctly.

      2. Try reconnecting. The line may have been noisy or the
         service may have been down.

      3. Reduce the baud rate of the modem to 2400 and try
reconnecting. Windows does not use its Universal
Asynchronous Receiver-Transmitter (UART) Chip to buffer
data transfer at these lower baud rates.

If necessary, call (800) 848-8980 to obtain a different
number at a lower baud rate.

7. Q. Who should I contact if I have problems with my Online Service?

   A. If you are experiencing problems or have questions about your
service, you should call Online Services or your financial
      institution before calling Microsoft.

If you have signed up for any of the online services through
your financial institution, call your financial institution
      first for customer support.

If you have signed up for Online Bill Payment and/or Quotes
Online directly through Online Services, call Online Services
      for customer support.

Intuit Service Corporation is the provider for Microsoft Money's
Online Services. Its phone number is (630) 300-3020, or
      (800) 200-7622 if you have a touch tone phone. Customer support is
available 7 A.M. to 11 P.M. (central time) Monday through Friday.

8. Q. I sent instructions to Online Services to pay a bill. Now I want
to change or cancel the payment. How can I do this?

   A. If you want to change a payment instruction sent to Online
Services, you will need to cancel the instructions and send new
ones. You can cancel an electronic payment (Epay) up to four days
      before it is due.

To cancel an Epay, use the following four steps:

      1. In the Account Book window for your checking account, click
the Epay transaction that you want to cancel.

      2. On the Edit menu, click Void Transaction.

      3. Click the Yes button when asked if you want to create an
instruction for Pay Online to cancel this transaction.

      4. Send the Cancel Payment instructions to Online Services.

9. Q. I set up an Automatic Payment (Apay) with Online Services. How
can I change or cancel this?

   A. If you want to change an Automatic Payment instruction sent to
Online Services, you will need to cancel the instructions and
send new ones. To cancel an Automatic Payment, you need to send
instructions to Online Services to cancel all future scheduled
      payments to this payee.

NOTE: If the next scheduled payment has already been entered in
your Account Register, you will also need to cancel it as
      described in the previous question.

To cancel an Apay, use the following five steps:

      1. Go to the Future Transactions window.

      2. Click the Apay transaction that you want to cancel.

      3. On the Edit menu, click Void Transaction.

      4. Click the Yes button when asked if you want to permanently
         cancel this Automatic Payment.

      5. Send the Cancel Apay instructions to Online Services.
