1. Q. What causes the message "Money could not complete the call
due to trouble communicating with the modem port. Please
       try again"?

    A. If you have an internal modem and you receive this error
message, Windows is unable to communicate with your modem.
Check the modem settings in the Windows Control Panel to
verify that the modem is installed correctly. Verify that
your communication ports settings are correct.

If you have an external modem and receive this error
message, check all cable connections and make sure the
modem's power is on. If everything appears to be in
working order, check the modem settings in the Windows
Control Panel. Verify that your communication ports
       setting are correct.

This problem can also occur if you have other communications
software running in the background such as fax software
configured to receive incoming faxes on the same COM port.
You must close the other communications software before you
can use Microsoft Money's Online Services.

 2. Q. What causes the message, "There was a problem with the file
being received from Online Services. Please call Online
       Services Customer Support"?

    A. This occurs if you are using the Windows 95 Direct Cable
Connection. Money is trying to use Windows 95 Direct Cable
Connection (DCC) to make the online call, instead of using your
       modem.

To resolve this, select your actual modem from the list of
choices in the Modem area of the Call Online Services section.
Do not select any of the Parallel or Serial Cable choices.

For detailed information about how to complete these steps,
please order article Q137888 from the Microsoft Money FastTips
       Catalog.

          box, and then click OK.

 6. Q. In my area, I need to dial the area code of my local access
phone number without dialing a "1" first.. How do I do this?

    A. To have Money dial the call to a different area code as a local
call, use the following nine steps:

       1. In the Online Services area, click the Call button. If you
are using Online Quotes, click Online Quotes in the
Investment Portfolio and then click Call.

       2. Click Dialing Properties.

       3. Click New. Type a name for the location such as "To XXX area
          code."

       4. Click the Dial Using Calling Card check box, and then click
          New.

NOTE: The calling card feature allows customization of the
          dialing procedure.

       5. Type a name such as "Local Call to XXX", and then click OK.

       6. Click Advanced.

       7. In the Dialing Rules dialog box, type "FG" (without the
quotation marks) in the Calls Within The Same Area Code box.

       8. Click Close and then OK. The Number To Be Dialed Area of
the Dialing Properties dialog should now display the correct
          number.

       9. Click OK.

 9. Q. I sent instructions to Online Services to pay a bill. Now I
want to change or cancel the payment. How can I do this?

    A. If you want to change a payment instruction sent to Online
Services, you will need to cancel the instructions and send new
ones. You can cancel an electronic payment (Epay) up to four

Services to cancel all future scheduled payments to this
