 - Microsoft PowerPoint for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SUMMARY
=======

When you click the More Colors button in the Other Colors dialog box in
PowerPoint, the screen may be updated and the colors of the buttons in the
toolbars may change. This behavior occurs if the Monitors control panel is
set to display 256 or fewer colors.

CAUSE
=====

When the More Colors option is invoked from within PowerPoint, a color
wheel containing all of the currently available colors is displayed.
Eight-bit (256 Color) mode can only display 256 colors out of a palette of
16.7 million colors at any given time. Therefore, the colors normally
used in the toolbars may not be available.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The color of the toolbars does not the way PowerPoint behaves. However,
there may be circumstances where you don't want the toolbar colors to be
changed. To configure the computer in this situation, use the following
steps (these steps work only on computers that can display more than 256
colors):

1. On the Apple Menu, click Control Panels.

2. Start the Monitors control panel.

3. Choose Thousands or Millions from the list of color depths.

4. Click the Close box in the upper-left corner of the Monitors
   control panel window.

The toolbar colors should now appear as expected.
