If the floppy disk that contains your Money data file is not in the

Error reading disk in Drive A:
   Please Insert disk <XXXXX>
With Serial number <XXXXX> in Drive A:
Press enter for OK or ESC to Cancel:OK

(where <XXXXX> is the name and serial number of your disk.)

Pressing ESC returns you to the Money program with the error
message:

There has been an error reading or writing the file '<filename>'
   Retry or Cancel"

(where <filename> is the name of your file.)

Your Account Register appears blank and to have lost all of its
transactions. Clicking Retry repeats the error message. Clicking
Cancel gives you one of these messages:

RESOLUTIONS
===========

This problem can be corrected in two ways:

Resolution 1
------------

When the error message "Error reading disk in drive A:" first appears,
reinsert the floppy disk that contains your Money data into the floppy
drive and press OK. Money will then be able to save the transaction to
the Money data file.

-or-

Resolution 2
------------

If the error message "You must have a file open" appears, follow the
steps below:

1. Reinsert the floppy disk that contains your Money data into the
   floppy disk drive.

2. Click the No button.

3. In the Open dialog box, click the Look In list and then click your
   floppy drive.

4. Double-click your Money data file.

5. Click Yes when prompted to fix or verify the file.

Money must make repairs to the data file before opening it. The
transaction you tried to enter will not have been saved to your
Money data file.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Money uses a feature called Autosave that automatically saves
information to your Money file as you enter it. This feature is
constantly running in the background in Money. As a result, Money needs
to access your Money data file when you save or edit a transaction.

It is recommended that you copy your data file onto the hard drive and
open it from the hard drive. This will prevent this error from
reoccurring. Hard drives are also more reliable than floppy media.
