Testing Your CD-ROM Drive
-------------------------

The CD-ROM drive may have difficulty reading files located on the outer
portion, or track, of the disc. To test for specific drive-capacity
limitations, do the following:

1. Insert the Ancient Lands disc into the CD-ROM drive.

2. Open the Ancient Lands disc.

3. Drag the following files to your hard drive icon.

      Microsoft Multimedia Catalog
      Ancient Lands Read Me
      SimpleText

4. Open the System Files Folder.

5. Drag the following files to your hard drive icon.

      Sound Manager
      Sound

If the following error message appears while copying any file, then your
CD-ROM drive cannot read the disk at the specified location:

The file <file name> couldn't be read, because a disk error occurred.
Do you want to continue copying?

where <file name> is the file you are copying.

If the file does copy, compare its size with the file on the compact
   disc.

Comparing File Size Information
-------------------------------

1. Locate the file on the disc.

2. Click the file one time.

3. On the File Menu, click Get Info.

4. Note the number of Bytes Used shown on the Size line.

5. Repeat the above procedure with the file that was copied to the hard
   disk drive.

The number of bytes used should be the same for both files. If the
number of bytes is different, then the CD-ROM drive is having problems
reading the compact disc.

For additional information about drive limitations, contact your CD-ROM
drive manufacturer.
