SUMMARY
=======

Because of physical read limitations of some CD-ROM drives, some files
and folders on the Microsoft Musical Instruments for the Macintosh,
version 1.0 CD-ROM disc may be inaccessible from your CD-ROM drive. This
article lists those files and tells how to test your drive.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The CD-ROM drive may have difficulty reading the files located on the
compact disc. The files are:

   Files Location on Disc
   ----- ----------------

   T 522 MB
   Installer 520 MB

NOTE: The Musical Instruments compact disc contains 522 MB of data. The
final file on the disc is T.

Testing Your CD-ROM Drive
-------------------------

The CD-ROM drive may have difficulty reading files located on the outer
portion, or track, of the compact disc. To test for specific drive-
capacity limitations, do the following:

1. Insert the Musical Instruments compact disc into the CD-ROM drive.

2. Open the Musical Instruments disc.

3. Drag the following files to your hard drive icon.

      T
      Installer

If the following error message appears while copying any file,
then your CD-ROM drive cannot read the disk at the specified location:

The file <file name> couldn't be read, because a disk error occurred.
Do you want to continue copying?

where <file name> is the name of the file you are copying.

Comparing File Size
-------------------

If the file does copy, compare its size with the file on the disc. To
compare file size information, do the following:

1. Locate the file on the disc.

2. Click the file one time.

3. On the File Menu, click Get Info.

4. On the line displaying the Size, note the number of bytes used.

5. Repeat steps 1-4 with the file that you copied to the hard drive.

The files should use an identical number of bytes. If the number of bytes
is different, then the CD-ROM drive is having problems reading the disc.

For additional information, contact your CD-ROM drive manufacturer.
