SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you attempt to start Bob E-Mail one of the following may ocur:
 
 - Bob E-Mail starts and upbruptly exits. You never see the
    mailroom.
 
 - You enter Bob E-Mail and click Tell Me Your E-Mail
    Information but nothings happens.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
This can occur if the Windows MAPI (Messaging API) software has
been deleted, moved, or renamed.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
If you have removed Exchange for Windows 95 you will need to re-
install it. Bob E-Mail cannot start if MAPI system files are
missing.
 
NOTE: If you remove Exchange for Windows 95, your e-mail
profiles will be lost. For information on how to restore your Bob E-Mail
profiles, please see the following article in the Microsoft

If you are using Windows 3.1, or Windows 95 without Exchange, you
will need to manually extract the standard MAPI files from your
Bob disk.
 
Steps for Extracting Standard MAPI Files
----------------------------------------
 
These steps assume:
 
 - Your floppy drive is drive A.
 
 - Your hard drive is drive C.
 
 - Your CD-ROM drive is drive D.
 
 - Your Windows directory is C:\Windows.
 
To extract the MAPI files from the Bob Compact Disc, do the following:
 
For Windows 95:
 
1. Click the Start button, point to Programs, and then click MS-DOS Prompt.
 
2. At the MS-DOS prompt, type the following and press ENTER:
 
      d:\extract d:\u1.cab mapi*.dll /l c:\windows\system
 
For Windows 3.1:
 
1. In Program Manager, click Main on the Window menu.
 
2. From the Main group, double-click the MS-DOS Prompt icon.
 
3. At the MS-DOS prompt, type the following and press ENTER:
 
      d:\extract d:\u1.cab mapi*.dll /l c:\windows\system
 
To extract the MAPI files from the Bob floppy disks, do the following:
 
For Windows 95:
 
1. Insert Disk 1 into the floppy drive.
 
2. Click the Start button, point to Programs, then click MS-DOS Prompt.
 
3. At the MS-DOS prompt, type the following and press ENTER:
 
      copy a:\extract.exe c:\windows
 
4. Insert Disk 3 in the floppy drive.
 
5. Type the following and press ENTER:
 
      extract a:\u3.cab mapi*.dll /l c:\windows\system
 
For Windows 3.1:
 
1. In Program Manager, click Main on the Window menu.
 
2. From the Main group, double-click the MS-DOS Prompt icon.
 
3. Insert Disk 1 into the floppy drive.
 
4. At the MS-DOS prompt, type the following and press ENTER:
 
      copy a:\extract.exe c:\windows
 
5. Insert Disk 3 in the floppy drive.
 
6. Type the following and press ENTER:
 
      extract a:\u3.cab mapi*.dll /l c:\windows\system
 
Restart your computer and start Bob E-Mail.
