The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows 95, version 7.0
 - Microsoft Windows NT Workstation, version 3.51
----------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

When you open a PowerPoint 4.0 presentation in PowerPoint 7.0, objects
seem to lose their fill or line colors (if you have a predefined fill on an
object such as a box, it will not retain the colors it had in 4.0.)

CAUSE
=====

This problem occurs when you are running PowerPoint 7.0 on a Windows NT
3.51 workstation with an ATI Mach 64 video card.

NOTE: If you start Windows NT in VGA mode, the colors will appear correctly
(although they will be dithered.)

RESOLUTION
==========

To take full advantage of the Mach 64 video driver, set the amount of
colors that the driver can display to the maximum, 16 million colors.
