SYMPTOMS
When printing Wingdings, Wingdings 2, and Wingdings 3 to a LaserJet 4M or
4Si MX using the Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet printer driver versions 2.2
or 8.0, the following PostScript errors can occur:
Error: invalidfont; OffendingCommand; Show A PostScript Error has been generated by the LaserJet extension file; the document is OK but cannot be printedCAUSE These printers do not interpret Motorola Assembly Language and do not have an internal TrueType rasterizer chip. (This is the same as with other Class 3 printers.)
WORKAROUND In the case of the LaserJet 4M, Microsoft recommends using HP's version 2.12 driver. For the LaserJet 4Si MX, the Apple LaserWriter 7.1.1 (or earlier) driver can be used. Note: This driver does not have the ability to control paper feeding bins and resolution settings. HP's 2.2 driver version is based on Apple's 7.1.2 and 7.2 drivers. |
