WD: Text/Subscribe Changes Format When Saved as Word for Windows |
Q100334
Word for the Macintosh documents that have been saved and opened in
Word for Windows 2.0 format may exhibit formatting changes. This can
occur if the original document contains a Subscriber. In some
instances, the entire Subscriber may unexpectedly change. This can
occur if you have applied manual formatting (such as bold, italic,
underline, outline, or all caps) to the first character of the
Publisher.
The resulting Word for Windows 2.0 document will incorrectly display
all nonformatted text in the Subscriber area with the manual
formatting. For example, if the letter H in the Publisher, "Have a
nice day" is manually formatted All Caps, the Subscriber information
becomes HAVE A NICE DAY.
To prevent manual formatting from affecting all nonformatted text in a Subscriber, add a space, period, or other character that doesn't have manual formatting to the beginning of the text before publishing.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word for the Macintosh versions 5.0 and 5.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
