SYMPTOMS
You may receive one of the following error messages when you start Encarta:
Error on startup
There is a problem starting Encarta:
The necessary text fonts are not available.
Error On Startup. There is a problem starting Encarta. Stop. The
Dictionary cannot be found. This may be due to a corrupted
encarta.ini file. Encarta can still run, but without the dictionary.
RESOLUTION
If you have just installed Encarta, you must restart Windows. If restarting
Windows doesn't solve your problem, run Encarta Setup again from the
compact disc (CD) or perform a manual Encarta setup.

Knowledge Base:

NOTE: This error may occur also if the attributes for V5sp.Fon and V6sp.Fon
are set to read-only. The solution is to remove the read-only attributes,
recopy the *.fon files from the Fonts folder (directory) on the Encarta CD
to the Windows System folder and exit and restart Windows.
