SYMPTOMSWhen you use the Print Titles feature in Microsoft Excel, the resulting printout may show the print titles for the columns printed twice on the first page of the worksheet. In the case where the print titles are located lower down on the first page, they may print at the top of the page as well. If the print titles are at the top of the page, they may be printed twice in a row.
CAUSEThe print titles are being printed the first time because they are the print titles; they are printed the second time because they are part of the defaulted print area. The following is an explanation of this behavior for various versions of Microsoft Excel. Version 4.0 Print Titles Printed Twice: Page 534 of the "User's Guide 1," version 4.0, states:
The print titles will first print in the range in which they appear on the worksheet. They will print at the top of each subsequent page.However, print titles will be printed twice on the first page in the following situation:
In Microsoft Excel, version 4.0, the print titles will NOT be printed twice on the first page in either of the following situations:
