SYMPTOMS
Windows NT Terminal cannot save a TRM file with uppercase letters even
if it is being saved to an NTFS or HPFS partition.
Steps to Reproduce Problem
- Open Terminal from the Accessories group.
- From the File menu, choose Save As.
- Try to type capital letters in the File Name box.
You will not be able to use capital letters in the filename. This
occurs when trying to use the SHIFT key as well as the CAPS LOCK key.
The type of file system (NTFS, HPFS, or FAT) makes no difference.
RESOLUTION
To workaround this problem, save the file to an NTFS or HPFS partition
with Terminal and then use the File Manager to rename the file to
uppercase letters.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT version 3.1
and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. We are researching this
problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge
Base as it becomes available.
