Text in Print Preview Appears Condensed Printing to LaserJet 4 |
Q103756
Text may appear condensed in print preview when you are using the Hewlett-Packard (HP) LaserJet 4 printer and printer driver and you format that text for a non-TrueType font that is resident in the LaserJet 4 printer. This text prints correctly and displays correctly on the screen.
Word uses TrueType screen fonts to display text in print preview. When you use a non-TrueType, printer-resident font, Word selects the TrueType font that most closely matches the font. If the character widths of the preview font are less than those of the printer font, the text displays incorrectly in print preview.
If you want print preview to correctly display your document as it will print, format the text for a TrueType font.
