PRB: "Error Writing to File 'MSAIN100.DLL'" During 1.1 Install

    Article ID: Q103997
    Creation Date: 02-SEP-1993
    Revision Date: 19-SEP-1996

The information in this article applies to:

    • Microsoft Access version 1.1

    SYMPTOMS

    The error message

       Error writing to file "MSAIN100.DLL"

is displayed when you are upgrading a network installation of Microsoft Access from version 1.0 to version 1.1.

    CAUSE

Make sure that no users are running Microsoft Access on the network. During the version 1.1 installation process, the MSAIN100.DLL file is deleted and replaced with the MSAIN110.DLL file. This file provides the international support for Microsoft Access.

If someone is using Microsoft Access when you start the installation process, the error message

       Error writing to file "MSAIN100.DLL"

is received when the Setup program tries to delete that file. Once all users have closed Microsoft Access, you can restart Setup.

    MORE INFORMATION

The following files are deleted during Microsoft Access 1.1 installation:

       BTRVISAM.DLL
       DBSIASM.DLL
       MSABC100.DLL
       MSAES100.DLL
       MSAIN100.DLL
       MSAJU100.DLL
