Excel: Font in Text Box on Zoomed Sheet Larger Than Expected

SYMPTOMS

If you use a macro to create a text box on a zoomed sheet, the size of the text in the box will change when you click an area outside the box. For example, if you create the text box while the worksheet is zoomed to 200 percent, the font will change from the default 10-point font to a 20-point font.

STATUS

This problem only occurs when you use a macro to create the text box.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Excel versions 3.0 and 4.0 for the Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not use a macro to create your text box.

You can use text boxes to place comments next to portions of your worksheets, macro sheets, or charts. These text boxes are independent graphic objects that can be sized, moved, and formatted.
