Cannot Use QIC-40 Media in a QIC-80 Drive

SUMMARY

The QIC-40/QIC-80 floppy tape drive driver (QIC-117.SYS) in Windows NT does not support writing to QIC-40 media in a QIC-80 drive. If the QIC-117.SYS driver determines that the media in a QIC-80 drive is formatted for a QIC-40 drive, it reports that the tape is "Read-only."

You cannot write to or read from a QIC-80 tape in a QIC-40 drive.
