SYMPTOMS
In a Word document that is locked for annotations, you can position the
insertion point in the annotation window and choose Database from the
Insert menu. However, when you choose the Get Data button in the Insert
Database dialog box, nothing happens. No error message appears.
CAUSE
When a document is locked for annotations, the Database command on the
Insert menu should be unavailable (dimmed). Even though the command is
available, you cannot insert a database in the annotation pane.
STATUS
We are researching this problem and will post new information here in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
WORKAROUND
If you want to annotate a document that is locked for annotations, you
must first unlock the document.
