CAUSEWord sorts a mail merge data source, even if it is a locked master document, if you set sorting criteria under the Sort Records tab in the Query Options dialog box. (To open the Query Options dialog box, choose the Mail Merge button on the Mail Merge toolbar or choose the Merge button in the Mail Merge Helper dialog box and then choose the Query Options button.)
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 6.0. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
