SYMPTOMS

With machines with more than one parallel port, all printing attempts to ports other than LPT1 results in the output always going to LPT1.

RESOLUTION

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT. We are researching this problem and will post new information here as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Problem

  1. Configure a machine with two or more line printer ports (LPT1, LPT2) and attach a printer to each port.
  2. Start a VDM
  3. Issue the command: "copy <text file> LPT1:". This will print successfully to LPT1.
  4. Issue the command: "copy <text file> LPT2:". This will NOT print to LPT2 as expected; it will instead print to LPT1.
