Local Path Set to UNC Path in User Manager

SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade from a LAN Manager server to Windows NT, in User Manager you may notice some strange behavior. In the User Environment Profile dialog box, instead of containing the proper path to your home directory, the Local Path field contains a universal naming convention (UNC) path. If you attempt to continue with this path, User Manager informs you that the UNC path is invalid. You are required to enter a drive letter in the Local Path field. Also, if you choose connect to your home directory, the information in the Local Path field is not reproduced and you must retype it.

Also, Winlogon will log you on with an invalid local path and assign the home directory to the root of drive C without cautioning you.
