Features that are converted completely are not listed. Only features that
are not converted or require some comment are included.

version 4.x is now available separately. For additional information,
please see the following article(s) in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Lotus 1-2-3
Feature Comments
----------- --------
Formatting:
Font All Lotus 1-2-3 data is formatted as 10-point
Courier font.
Numeric formatting Lotus 1-2-3 tries to fit numbers in General
format into the current column width. When
converted, these numbers are brought in at
their full precision. Therefore, you may see
more decimal places in Word 6.0 than you did
in your worksheet.
Worksheet Size:
Less than 32 columns A table is created in Word 6.0.
More than 32 columns The worksheet is represented in Word 6.0 as
or wider than 22 inches tab-delimited text.
Other:
Ranges The converter displays a dialog box asking you
to choose from a list of range names. Type in
a Lotus 1-2-3 range (for example, b2..g43),
choose an existing range name (for example,
my_data), or press ENTER to convert the entire
worksheet.
Note that three-dimensional range names are
supported correctly, but explicit 3-D range
definitions (for example, a:a1..c:c5) are not
supported.
Password If the worksheet is password protected, you
will be asked to enter the password. Note that
you may have to reenter the password when
beginning a print merge operation. Password-
protected files created in Lotus 1-2-3 version
3.x cannot be converted.
Empty files Empty worksheets are imported into Word 6.0 as
a single empty cell.
The Lotus 1-2-3 converter functions in one direction only. Data can be
brought into Word 6.0 from Lotus 1-2-3 files but not saved in Lotus 1-2-3
format.
The information above is extracted from the SCNVINFO.DOC file supplied with
the Word 6.0 for Windows Supplemental File Conversions Disks.
For information on limitations and options when converting to and from file
formats for which converters are supplied with Word, double-click the Help
button on the Standard toolbar in Word, and then type readme. Press ENTER twice, click File Conversion, and view the relevant Conversion Limitations topic.
