SYMPTOMS

The Windows NT network redirector can cause some performance problems under certain situations. These situations are most noticeable when you run Microsoft Mail or Microsoft Access. The redirector pauses for as long as three seconds after closing a file it has written to before it releases the write cache.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1. This problem was corrected in the latest U.S. Service Pack for Windows NT and Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1.
