SUMMARYIn Microsoft Excel when you use a defined name to reference a cell note to a cell, you will receive the following error message:
Reference must be to a single cell on the active sheet.You will receive this error message even if the defined name refers to only one cell. This is by design.
MORE INFORMATIONAlthough a defined name can be one cell or a range of cells, a cell note must reference a single cell. Microsoft Excel does not check to see if the defined name refers to one cell or multiple cells.
