SUMMARY

In Microsoft Excel, tear-off palettes are not hidden when related toolbars are closed. This is by design.

Step to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Display the Formatting toolbar by choosing Toolbars from the View menu.

  2. Select the Formatting toolbar option and choose OK.

  3. The Format toolbar should now be displayed.

  4. Choose the down-arrow on the Font Color button to display the color palette.

  5. "Tear off" the Font Color palette by selecting the outer edge and dragging the palette to a different area of the worksheet.

  6. To Hide the Formatting toolbar, choose Toolbars from the View menu and clear the Formatting check box.

Note that the Font Color tear-off palette is still visible.
