Works: How to Use Leading Zeros in a Date

SUMMARY

If you want to format a date with leading zeros in single-digit months and days, you can change the Month and Day settings in the International section of the Windows Control Panel.

For example, you may want 7/5/92 to display as 07/05/92 instead.

This affects dates with the following formats:

  • month/day/year

  • month/day

  • month/year

To add leading zeros to the month or day, use the steps below for your version of Windows:

Windows 95

  1. Click Start, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Regional Settings.
  3. On the Date tab, change the Short Date Style to one with double digits, for example, MM/dd/yy.
  4. Click OK, then close the Control Panel and restart Works.
The above date formats will now have leading zeros on single-digit months and/or days in Windows and Works.

Windows 3.1

  1. Double-click the Windows Control Panel,usually located in the Main program group of Program Manager.
  2. Double-click the International icon.
  3. In the Date Format box, click Change.
  4. Select the Day Leading Zero(07, 7) or the Month Leading Zero (02, 2) boxes.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click OK to exit the International settings.
  7. Close Control Panel and restart Works.
The above date formats will now have leading zeros on single-digit months and/or days in Windows and Works.
