SUMMARY

When inserting a footnote in Works for Windows, the footnote notation defaults to the default font size, minus 2pts. For example, if your default font is Times New Roman, 12-point, this places a superscript, 10-point Times New Roman character as the footnote notation. This can cause line spacing irregularity if the document has been formatted for a font smaller than 10-point.

Works for Windows increases the space between the line of text containing the footnote notation and the line of text above it to allow the footnote notation to be completely displayed. This occurs regardless of which font is used in the document.

MORE INFORMATION

The font used for the footnote can be changed by one of two ways:

  1. Individually select each footnote character within the body of text and change the font and/or size.

    -or-

  2. From the Edit menu, click Select All. Change the font to the desired font and size.

NOTE: This will change the entire document to the same font and font size. If you are using different fonts or various sizes in your document, you will want to choose the first method.
