PRA: "Cursor Stops at First/Last Field" Setting Ignored

SYMPTOMS

You can move the insertion point among records even though you have set the "Cursor Stops at First/Last Field" option in the Options dialog box to Yes.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, add the following two actions to an Autoexec macro for your database:

   Action: SendKeys
      Keystrokes: %ck%i{tab 2}Yes{Enter}
         Wait: No

   Action: DoMenuItem
      Menu Bar: Database
      Menu Name: View
      Command: Options

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access versions 1.0 and 1.1. This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access version 2.0.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

Open the sample database NWIND.MDB.
Open the Categories table. Note that you can move among records with the RIGHT ARROW and LEFT ARROW keys.
From the View menu, choose Options. In the Category box, select Keyboard.
Set the "Cursor Stops at First/Last Field" option to Yes.
Quit Microsoft Access and restart it.
Open the Categories table. Notice you can still use the RIGHT ARROW and LEFT ARROW keys to move among records, even though now you should not be able to.
