ACC1x: Error While Importing FoxPro Table Structure

SYMPTOMS

When you are importing an empty FoxPro version 2.0 table into Microsoft Access, you receive the following error message:

Table '<tablename#DBF>' is exclusively locked


CAUSE

The FoxPro indexed sequential access method (ISAM) opens empty tables in exclusive mode, and opens non-empty tables as read-only. Microsoft Access opens the table, placing it in exclusive mode, and then attempts the import. The import cannot be carried out, however, because the table has already been opened exclusively.


STATUS

This problem was corrected in Microsoft Access version 1.1.
