PRB: Print Preview of Datasheet Does Not Show Data

    The information in this article applies to:

    • Microsoft Access versions 1.0 and 1.1

    SYMPTOMS

    No data is displayed when you are previewing a table, query, or form datasheet, even though records do exist in the underlying record source.

    CAUSE

    This problem can occur after you change font settings.

    RESOLUTION

    After you change font settings, save and then close the object. The data will be displayed correctly when you preview the object after you re-open it. Also, avoid selecting white as the color for window text in the Color utility in Microsoft Windows Control Panel.

    STATUS

    This problem no longer occurs in Microsoft Access version 2.0.

    Steps to Reproduce Behavior

    1. Start the Control Panel.
    2. Double-click the Color icon.
    3. Choose the Color Palette button.
    4. In the Screen Element box, select Window Background. In the Basic Colors area, select a gray color.
    5. In the Screen Element box, select Window Text. In the Basic Colors area, select white.
    6. Start Microsoft Access and open any database.
    7. Open any existing table in Datasheet view.
    8. From the Layout menu, choose Font. Select a different font or size for the datasheet, and then choose OK.
    9. From the File menu, choose Print Preview.
