The THESIS1.DOT template, supplied with Word for Windows, is not based on
any single style guide. The template is based on a variety of standards
that make it a generic tool for producing academic manuscripts.
The thesis templates (DISSERT2.DOT and DISSERT.DOT) supplied with earlier
versions of Word are based on "A Manual for Writers of Term Papers, Theses,
and Dissertations," Fifth edition, by Kate L. Turabian.
Note: Though the template is based on the Turabian publication, it is not
standardized to it.
