SYMPTOMS
- In Word, if you are adding a new button to a toolbar and the button
touches an adjacent toolbar before you drop it in place, the button may
be placed on the adjacent toolbar instead of its intended location.
-or-
- If you drop a button before placing it in a toolbar (for example, over
the document area or dialog box), it disappears.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Word listed
above. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information
here as it becomes available.
RESOLUTION
Precise placement of the button is the only workaround for the first
problem.
In the second situation, the button is still available and can be retrieved
from the Customize dialog by choosing the Commands tab (Toolbars tab in
Word 6.x or 7.x), reselecting the appropriate category and button, and
dragging it successfully to the intended toolbar.
