SUMMARYIn Microsoft Excel, when you use Microsoft Query to return data to a worksheet from an external data source, you may not be prompted that existing data is about to be overwritten.
MORE INFORMATIONIf the selected cell or range contains data that is part of a previously defined query definition, you will be prompted to replace the query definition. However, if the selected cell or range contains data that is not part of a query definition, the returned query data will overwrite any data in that range. The only exception to this situation occurs if there is an array in the range. If there is an array in the range, you receive the following message:
The range in which the data will be placed contains part of an array or locked cells.In this case, your only choice is to choose OK, and the operation is canceled.
