SYMPTOMS
The Values Only option under the Paste Values command in the Spreadsheet
module is referring to pasting only values as opposed to formulas. The
Values Only option does not refer to any cell formatting. If you use the
Paste Special command to paste the contents of a cell that contains
formatting, the formatting is copied as well, even if you choose to copy
values only. Formatting such as font, color, and pattern are all copied to
the new cell.
WORKAROUND
If the destination cell does not have any information in it, you can paste
the information without formatting by selecting Add Values under Paste
Special.
Steps to Reproduce Problem
- In a new spreadsheet, type a number into a cell.
- Select the cell and change the font, color, and pattern formatting.
Give the cell a border. These options are in the Format menu.
- From the Edit menu, choose Copy.
- Select a different cell.
- From the Edit menu, choose Paste Special. Choose Values Only and
choose OK.
The number pastes into the new cell, formatted like the original.
