SUMMARY
Included below is a summary of corrections made to the WORDWIN2.CNV
converter that is used by Word 6.0a to save Word documents in Word 2.0 for
Windows format. All corrections listed here have been made since the
immediately previous Word 6.0 product release. Corrected problems include:
Default Normal Indent Style Duplicated as User-Defined Style
When you apply the default Normal Indent style within a Word 6.0 document
and save that document as Word 2.0 for Windows format, the style is
duplicated in Word 2.0 as a user-defined style (two instances of the Normal
Indent style appear if you press CTRL+Y to view all styles in the Style
dialog box).
This problem was corrected in Word 6.0a.
Default Style with Added Shortcut Key Generated
GP Fault in Works for Windows and Publisher for Windows
The Word 2.0 for Windows converter installed by Word 6.0 for Windows is
shared with other Microsoft applications such as Works for Windows and
Publisher for Windows.
When you open a Word 2.0 document containing a default style with an added
shortcut key into either Works or Publisher for Windows using the version
of the Word 2.0 for Windows converter installed by Word 6.0, you may
receive a general protection (GP) fault.
This problem was corrected in Word 6.0a.
The String "rsltmerge" Appears in Embedded Objects in Works 3.0 for Windows
When a Word 2.0 document containing embedded (OLE) objects is opened in
Works 3.0 for Windows using the Word 2.0 for Windows converter installed by
Word 6.0, the following string appears at the beginning of all objects:
\rsltmerge
This problem was corrected in Word 6.0a.
Files Cannot Be Saved to Directories
with Names Containing Extended Characters
If you attempt to save a document from Word 6.0 in Word 2.0 for Windows
format and the name of the directory in which you choose to save the file
contains extended characters (for example, e umlaut), you may receive the
following error messages:
Works for Windows Conversion
Cannot open file
A temporary file that contains the correct information (for example, a
temporary file named MW100001.TMP) and an empty file (a file that contains
zero bytes) with the correct filename are subsequently generated.
This problem was corrected in Word 6.0a.
