SYMPTOMS

When you use the Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500 version 2.10 driver, the first page of a Microsoft Access multi-column report prints correctly, but all subsequent pages print approximately 1 inch lower on the page. In some cases, the text also shifts approximately .5 inch to the right.

RESOLUTION

Obtain version 3.10 of the HP DeskJet 550 driver from Hewlett-Packard.

NOTE: Microsoft supports only the black-and-white and version 2.x drivers for HP DeskJet printers. All color and 3.x drivers are supported by Hewlett- Packard.

To obtain the latest version of the HP DeskJet series driver (DESKJETC.DRV), download the file from the Hewlett-Packard forum on CompuServe (go HPPER), or contact Hewlett-Packard.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access versions 1.0 and 1.1. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

Steps to Reproduce Problem

1. Open the NWIND sample database and use the Single Column Report Wizard to create a new report based on the Customers table.



2. Select the first three fields: Customer ID, Company Name, and Contact Name. No sorting is required. Use Executive layout.



3. In Report Design View, select all the report header controls and move them to the page header section.



4. Set the report header height to 0 (zero).



5. From the File menu, choose Print Setup, choose the More button, and then set the following properties:

   Left Margin: .25 inch
   Right Margin .25 inch
   Items Across: 2
   Same as Detail: Disabled
   Item Layout: Vertical




6. Print the report using the HP DeskJet 500 version 2.10 driver.
