Word needs a larger memory allocation to run the Grammar Checker.
Make more memory available to Word as follows:
prior and memory and accessory
If you use System 7 or System 6 with MultiFinder, Microsoft recommends
allocating 2048K to Word to run the Grammar Checker. Typically, this means
the Macintosh must have a total of 4 MB (4096K) of RAM to run the System
and have 2048K left over for Word.
If you use System 6 with Finder, you must have minimum of 2 MB (2048K) of
RAM installed to use Word's Grammar Checker.
