Deskjet 500 Prints Return Address at Bottom of Envelope

SYMPTOMS

When you print a COM10 or custom-sized envelope from Word for Windows to a Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet 500, the envelope always prints with a 2.94- inch top margin.

CAUSE

Version 2.14 of the DeskJet 500 printer driver (HPDSKJET.DRV), which is supplied with Windows for Workgroups 3.11, causes this problem. The manual feed command malfunctions in this version of the printer driver.

This problem does not occur with version 2.0 or 2.1 of the printer driver, supplied with Windows for Workgroups 3.1.

RESOLUTION

If you have Windows for Workgroups 3.1, install the HPDSKJET.DRV version 2.0 file.
