  • Microsoft Delta for Windows, version 1.0

SUMMARY

In attempting to host a project on PC-NFS, it is necessary to use the LOCALDRIVES variable as outlined in the README.TXT file. In short, you will need to place the following in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

   SET LOCALDRIVES=J

This assumes that drive J is mapped to your PC-NFS volume. Once this is done, it should be possible to create a project on that drive.

Known Problems

Delta was not designed with UNIX file permissions in mind, and therefore will not be able to set them properly. One of the things Delta needs to do is change the file attribute of the files residing in the \SRC directory from read/write to read-only. When you create a file on UNIX, you become the owner of that file and the permissions you assign cannot, for the most part, be altered by others. When you use Delta to check in a file, it updates the master copy on the server and then changes the attribute of that file to read-only. However, the file is flagged as read-only with you as the owner making it difficult for others to check in their changes because they cannot override your permissions.

Please consult your UNIX system administrator for discussion of possible workarounds.
