SYMPTOMS

If you run the Word for Windows Setup program under IBM OS/2 version 2.0, Setup immediately fails and the following error message appears:

The Win-OS/2 session does not support this application.

CAUSE

The minimum requirement to install and run Word is Windows 3.1. OS/2 version 2.0 provides Windows 3.0 functionality, so it does not meet the minimum requirement for Word.

WORKAROUND

Method 1: Upgrade to OS/2 version 2.1, which provides Windows support equivalent to Windows 3.1.

Method 2: Use Windows 3.1 or later.
