Project: "Resource Is Assigned Outside..." Appears Only Once |
Q112327
After the following error message is displayed once
it is not displayed again unless you force a calculation or you close and then reopen the project file.Resource is assigned outside of the dates for task <task #> of <project>
To get Microsoft Project to show this message again, press the F9 key to force a recalculation. Note that this workaround will show only the first error of this type that is encountered.
To display an error message for other scheduling errors that occur in your
project, such as "Late Date Before Scheduled Date...," or another "Resource
Is Assigned Outside...," correct the conflict that is causing the resource
assignment error message.
Note that if you have selected the Planning Wizards check box on the
General tab of the Options dialog box, you can avoid the above behavior by choosing to fix the conflict when it occurs, instead of choosing the Continue option.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
The "Resource is assigned..." error message alerts you that a resource
cannot finish the work that is allotted within the duration of a fixed
duration task. Thus, the resource must be assigned outside of the task in
order to complete the work that causes this error message.
Microsoft Project will only display this error message once. If there are
multiple tasks with resources working outside of the tasks dates, only the
first error message will be displayed. Additionally, if you choose to
ignore this message, you do not receive other scheduling error messages in
the project.
