Excel: Clarification of Database Examples

Last reviewed: September 12, 1996
Article ID: Q112375
The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Excel for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a
  • Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh version 4.0

SUMMARY

On pages 335-336 of the "User's Guide 1" version 4.0, the worksheet examples are unclear.

For each example, the criteria range is modified as needed for the search examples of "and" and "or" relationships between database records. However, the area shown in the graphic below the criteria range in both examples contains the same information as the database range. Therefore, the examples do not display the extract results that would occur from using the example criteria and choosing Extract from the Data menu.
