WD: Space After WordPerfect Accented Character Lost in MacWord |
Q112396
When you open a WordPerfect document containing accented characters in Word
for the Macintosh, the space immediately following an accented character
may be lost if the accented letter was originally the last character in a
line of text in WordPerfect.
For example, the spacing following the lowercase "a" with a grave accent
character in the following line (represented by a' below) will be lost:
Pieds du portique. Ceci permettra de conserver le portique a'
l horizontale.
The result in Word is:
Pieds du portique. Ceci permettra de conserver le portique a'l
horizontale.
To avoid this problem, use an alternate conversion method. For example, use
the WordPerfect 5.1 for MS-DOS Convert.exe program or appropriate
WordPerfect 5.x for Windows Save As option to export the file to RFT-DCA or
Word for MS-DOS file format and then open either format into Word.
Word 5.x includes both Word for MS-DOS and RFT-DCA converters. The RFT-DCA
converter is not installed by default. If the necessary, run Setup to
install the appropriate converter.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
