PUB2: Page Numbers Print As Number (#) Signs
Q112405
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Publisher version 2.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------
SYMPTOMS
========
When printing a Publisher document, page numbers may print as the pound
symbol(#), not as 1, 2, and so on. However, the page numbers look correct
on the screen.
CAUSE
=====
This problem occurs when the page numbers were inserted into a table
frame rather than a text frame.
STATUS
======
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Publisher version 2.0. This
problem was corrected in Publisher version 2.0a for Windows.
RESOLUTION
==========
The page numbers print correctly if you insert the page numbers
in a text frame. To check this, perform the following steps:
1. From the Page menu, choose Go To Background.
2. Click the frame containing the "Page #" text.
3. Open the Edit menu.
4. If Delete Table is a choice in the menu list, the page numbers
were entered in a table. Delete the table frame and insert page
numbers in a text frame.
-or-
5. Delete the "Page #" text from the table, create a text frame, and
insert page numbers again. (Steps to insert page numbers can be found
on page 113 in the "Microsoft Publisher User's Guide" for version
2.0.)
