------------------------------------------------------------ The information in this article applies to: - Microsoft Publisher for Windows, versions 2.0, 2.0a ------------------------------------------------------------ SYMPTOMS ======== When you try to import text (other than plain text from a .TXT file) from any application into Publisher 2.0 or 2.0a, Publisher may display the following error message: Can't find file. Publisher uses a special file to import text. The file is missing or has been moved. Run the Setup again, and choose Custom Installation to install converters for word processors and graphics. Press F1 now if you want more information on running Setup. MORE INFORMATION ================ This error message can occur for two reasons: 1. The following line may be missing from the [MS Text Converters] section of the WIN.INI file: MSPUB2=MICROSOFT PUBLISHER 2.0, C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\TEXTCONV\MSWPUB2.CNV,PUB 2. The MSWPUB2.CNV file did not get installed in the WINDOWS\MSAPPS\TEXTCONV subdirectory. RESOLUTION ========== 1. Open File Manager. 2. Check to ensure the MSWPUB2.CNV file is located in the Windows MSAPPS\TEXTCONV subdirectory. 3. If the file is missing, expand the MSWPUB2.CN_ file from the Publisher disks into the Windows MSAPPS\TEXTCONV directory. 4. If the file is there, open the WIN.INI file in Notepad. 5. From the Search menu, choose Find and search for the [MS Text Converters] section. 6. If the following line is not listed in this section, add it: MSPub2=Microsoft Publisher 2.0, C:\WINDOWS\MSAPPS\TEXTCONV\MSWPUB2.CNV,pub Make sure the path is pointing to the MSAPPS subdirectory. 7.
