Err Msg: STOP Message 0xC000021A Starting Windows Application

SYMPTOMS

When you log on a second time after you restart a Windows NT print server and then start a Windows-based application with the remote printer set as the default printer, this STOP message appears: This problem occurs on a Windows NT print server that has a remote printer connection to its own local printer. For example:

   \\MYPRINTSERVER

has a local printer shared as

   \\MYPRINTSERVER\PRINTER1

and also has a network connection to

   \\MYPRINTSERVER\PRINTER1.

This can be a problem with mandatory profiles that contain the remote printer connection. When you log on to the print server using the mandatory profile, you get a remote printer connection (by means of the profile) to the locally connected printer. Windows NT clients (where the remote printer connection is the only printer) work correctly.
