SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, if you create a new view in a project file with the same name as an existing global view, the new view is saved in the project file, and the project uses this view instead of the global view. You do not receive an error message telling you that the name is already used.
WORKAROUND
To use a view from the GLOBAL.MPT file when a view with the same name
exists in your project file, do either of the following:
- Use the Organizer to delete the view in your project
file.
- Use the Organizer dialog box to copy the view from the
GLOBAL.MPT file to your project file. Because the views have the
same name, you are prompted to either rename the view you are
copying from GLOBAL.MPT, or replace the view in your project file
with the view copied from the GLOBAL.MPT file.
To access the
Organizer, choose
More Views from the
View menu, and then choose the
Organizer button.
