SUMMARY
In Microsoft Excel versions 5.x and 7.0, if you choose View Manager from
the View menu, your worksheet may be recalculated when you Add a new view
or Show an existing view. On very large worksheets, this recalculation may
cause a long delay.
WORKAROUND
If your worksheet is set to use manual calculation, the worksheet
will not be recalculated when you add a new view or show an existing one.
To use manual calculation:
- From the Tools menu, choose Options.
- Select the Calculation tab.
- In the Calculation box, select the Manual option. Choose OK to accept
the change.
MORE INFORMATION
This problem occurs because of the way in which the View Manager preserves
settings and begins using new settings. The settings used by View Manager
are stored within the worksheet in the form of hidden names: defining new
hidden names or redefining the print area to make use of different areas
may cause recalculation to occur.
