SYMPTOMS
If you set long dates to display as short dates in the International
section of the Windows Control Panel in Windows 3.0 or the Regional
Settings section in the Windows 95 Control Panel, and the country is set to
Sweden, you may receive a general protection (GP) fault in Works when you
enter a date in a spreadsheet or database.
RESOLUTION
To avoid this problem, avoid formatting the long date in the International
section (Windows 3.0) or the Regional Settings section (Windows 95) in
Control Panel as a short date. Instead, format the dates in Works by
clicking Number on the Format menu and selecting the desired short date
style.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Works version 3.0, 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5a.
