SYMPTOMS
In Microsoft Project, when you view a drawing object in print preview or
when you print it, the size and location of the object may be different from the size and location of the object in the original project.
CAUSE
When you print objects that were drawn on the Gantt Chart using the drawing tools, Microsoft Project tries to maintain the position of the object relative to several factors. One of these factors is the object's relative location in the timescale.
When you print a project, Microsoft Project has the ability to adjust the
Timescale Enlarge percentage so that the tasks in the project finish on a page break. This adjustment may cause objects drawn on the Gantt Chart to be moved relative to other objects.
RESOLUTION
You can turn off the Fit Timescale To Page option in Page Setup. To do this, choose Page Setup from the File menu and select the View tab. Clear the Fit Timescale To Page check box.
Clearing this check box will keep Microsoft Project from adjusting the
timescale when you print the project. Note, however, that you may still
need to adjust the objects to place them correctly.
